Paraguayan airline announces new destination in Uruguay
Paranair will operate the route with 50-seat CRJ-200 aircraft
The Paraguayan company Paranair opens a new route connecting Asunción (Paraguay), Montevideo and Rivera (Uruguay), starting December 1st. The flight leaves Asunción, stops in Montevideo and ends in Rivera, becoming the company’s fourth destination in the country.
The service will operate twice a week with 50-seat twin-engine Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft. The airline considers Uruguay a key country and this expansion seeks to boost tourism and commercial development, as well as connecting the interior of Uruguay with the capital. Tickets are available on the airline’s website or at authorized travel agencies.
This initiative was supported by the recent modernization and reopening of Rivera Airport in December 2023, which was upgraded to international operational and safety standards by Aeropuertos Uruguay.
According to Jaime Cassola, from Paranair, “Uruguay is a key country for Paranair, and the launch of the Montevideo-Rivera route reinforces our growth strategy, driven by the trust of those who choose us and by our joint work with the Ministry of Tourism and Airports of Uruguay.
The CEO of Aeropuertos Uruguay, Diego Arrosa, highlighted that “the direct route between Montevideo and Rivera is excellent news and also an example of how the modernization of airports in the interior marked a turning point in the country’s air connectivity; this transformation is generating new opportunities and bringing the interior closer to the capital”.
Rivera, on the border with Santana do Livramento (Brazil), is a growing tourist center, which has a wine tourism circuit and is a strategic point for shopping and gastronomy.
This new operation is part of Paranair’s regional expansion strategy, which seeks to bring together strategic destinations and promote tourism and commercial development between Paraguay and Uruguay. All fares include checked baggage of up to 23 kg and hand luggage of up to 5 kg, offering greater convenience to passengers.
