The United States Embassy in Brazil released a video this Wednesday (12/10) aimed at immigrants living illegally in the country, encouraging them to use a new official application to voluntarily return to their country of origin. The initiative is presented as an “end-of-year offer” from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for migration control and border enforcement.
In the video, the U.S. government announces the CBP Home app, a platform created to expedite voluntary repatriation requests. The message, in the tone of an information campaign, specifies that undocumented immigrants can request to return to their country of origin quickly, free of charge and in an organized manner. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also reports that participants will receive a $1,000 stipend upon their return.

Lindbergh Raises Voice and Speaks Out on Motta’s Removal as House Speaker
“Are you an illegal immigrant in the United States? Are you looking for the perfect holiday gift for your family? DHS has the best vacation deal of your life. It’s the CBP Home app. It’s free. It’s fast. Just download the app and fill out your information. We’ll take care of your travel arrangements. And when you return home, you’ll receive a $1,000 grant,” the video released by the diplomatic mission said.
The action comes amid increased political pressure on the U.S. government to reduce the flow of irregular immigrants and strengthen voluntary return policies.
