Analogue 3D – We tested the definitive console for Nintendo 64 games

We love to recover classic consoles and games and, on top of that, it’s a product as beloved as the Nintendo 64, the pleasure is double. To “reinvent” the past, there is no better company than Analogue. They have already started distributing their 3D analog.

Anyone involved in this retro world certainly knows the company’s history. Not long ago, they launched Analogue Pocket to enjoy music like never before. Game Boy Games.

In the past, they also brought us the Mega SG, for Mega Drive games, Super NT, for Super Nintendo games, or Analogue Duo for PC-Engine/Turbografx games.

This new bet is, perhaps, the most refined of all. Not only because its exterior design is truly beautiful (it comes in white, which captivated us, and in black), but because of the features it provides.

And as you may remember, the Nintendo 64 was a very powerful console in its day, but It was very much designed to work on tube TVsthe logical thing in the 90s.

This causes your picture looks especially dirty on modern TVs and, in fact, it doesn’t help that the most common option at the time was to output the image signal via composite video with RCA.

Analog 3D eliminates the problem in one fell swoop, not just because of the HDMI outputbut generates it natively (uses FPGA technologynot emulation) console signal in 4K.

Furthermore, its configuration menu allows us to choose between an image sharp, with scanlines or perfectly simulating the sensations of a tube TV, a professional monitor or even BVM, transmission quality.

Plus we can “play” disabling options such as antialiasing or blur, which makes games take on a completely different texture.

Of course, the console is compatible with games from any region and has ports for four original Nintendo 64 controls, but we can also connect more modern controls via Bluetooth, like the one created by 8BitDo for the occasion.

Come on, what the experience is great, but it also has its disadvantages. On the one hand, here no immediate save options of games or something similar, exactly what games originally offered.

On the other hand, of course, the price: the console alone (without controller) can cost around 300 eurosto which we must add taxes and tariffs, when coming from the USA.

Come on, it’s a product for purists and sybarites, but if you can afford it, 3D analog It’s so fun it’ll make you scream again: Nintendo Sixty Foooor!
