The fact that a star like Leonardo DiCaprio has many roles in the making is not something that surprises us. Currently, the 51-year-old actor has up to eight projects in progress, including some productions with Martin Scorsese which has been in development for so long that we don’t know if it will see the light of day or not.
In addition to these eight, there has been speculation for months about DiCaprio’s appearance as Rick Dalton in the sequel/spin-off of Once Upon a Time in… Hollywoodcentered on Brad Pitt’s character, Cliff CabinDalton’s stunt double.

Netflix wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to appear in the film he directed David Fincher. It would be a brief cameo, a one-day shoot for which the star was reportedly paid $3 million. However, the actor turned down the offer, much to Netflix’s anger. This is how he explains it in a conversation with deadline:
“At first there was talk about this. In short, I’m looking forward to the Cliff Booth story, but I’m not interested in it. I think David Fincher is the perfect man for the job. Quentin is a huge fan of your work, and so am I..
There is no one better to continue this tradition and tell this story. I think it’s the next stage in Cliff Booth’s life. I really want to see this“.
One of lime and one of sand by Leonardo DiCaprio
What the One Battle After Another star confirmed is his presence in the sequel warm upthe acclaimed heist film Michael Mann which is already preparing the adaptation of the novel that the director published with Meg Gardiner.
Leonardo DiCaprio spoke about this with deadlineavoiding confirming what role he will play in what will be Michael Mann’s first film in which he will star. He highlights that “they are negotiating“which character he will play and warns that battery 2 may still take a while to arrive:
“This is a very particular film. We’re still working on it, there’s still a long way to go before production. It’s a tribute to the Heat, but it picks up the story from there. The book is now available, so I won’t reveal any secrets. It’s set in the future and the past, starting from that crucial moment in what I consider the best film noir of my life..
(…)So, we are working on that. But it’s certainly exciting, and I think I consider it a separate space, in a way. We can’t replicate what Heat was, so it’s a tribute to that film, but it gives it its own identity“.
Heat 2 focuses on Vicente Hannathe character of Al Pacino in the original film and Chris Shiherliswhich was played by the deceased Val Kilmer. It’s unclear whether DiCaprio will play one of the two or a different character in the sequel.
But it’s good that Leonardo DiCaprio appease the rush of those who want to see Heat 2. After three decades, waiting a little longer to have a well-finished film is a trifle, after all.
