We’re recovering a very current episode… Because it’s something that hasn’t stopped happening during these months. At that time, the United States had four attacks on four ships in international waters off the coast of Venezuela, in which at least 17 people were killed. Three months later, this conflict has only intensified: the death toll for these attacks has risen to more than 100 and the American army deployed in the area has begun to block oil ships leaving Venezuela. Trump, who always assured that the boats were loaded with drugs bound for the United States, continued to accuse the government of Nicolas Maduro of being at the origin of drug trafficking.
With Andrés Gil, elDiario.es correspondent in the United States, and Celina Cárquez, Venezuelan journalist, we try to understand what is behind these attacks, Trump’s strategy and how Venezuelan society perceives this escalation of tension.
