MADRID, December 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Turkish authorities announced this Thursday the arrest of more than a hundred suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist group suspected of having prepared attacks during Christmas and New Year festivities.
The Istanbul prosecutor’s office indicated that a total of 115 people were arrested during searches in 124 locations, before adding that the operations were launched following “information” about planned attacks in the country during these holidays, “in particular against non-Muslim people”.
Likewise, he stressed that the suspects “were in contact with people in conflict zones as part of the activities of the terrorist organization”, before emphasizing that the agents also seized weapons, ammunition and “numerous organizational documents”.
“Measures are underway against the suspects who have not yet been captured,” he stressed in a press release on his account on the social network.
