
One man died and five others were arrested after a police chase that started on Avenida Brasil, near Bonsucesso, north of Rio de Janeiro, and ended at Rua da Passagem, in Botafogo, south, in the early hours of this Sunday (12/21). Two of the arrested suspects were injured and were rescued.
According to the Military Police (PMERJ), agents from the Rapid Lanes Police Battalion (BPVE) attempted to approach a car with six occupants acting suspiciously. The suspects then ignored the police’s order to stop and fled. The chase lasted approximately 15 kilometers.

Police arrest online harassment suspects for a year
According to the company, during another attempted approach, the group fired at police, who returned fire.
One of the suspects was shot and died at the scene. Two other men were injured and were rescued by military firefighters (CBM-RJ) and transported to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon.
Group specializing in vehicle theft
During the action, police seized two revolvers, a replica rifle, five cell phones, a GPS signal blocker (called jammer) and the car used during the escape, which had been stolen.
The Prime Minister indicated that those involved were part of a Complexo do Alemão gang specializing in vehicle thefts.
The following elements were identified:
- Pedro Henrique dos Santos Barros, 20, injured in the left arm and right thigh;
- Matheus Ricardo Cardoso da Silva, 24, injured in the right arm;
- Felipe Coelho Barbosa, 24 years old;
- Guilherme Valério de Oliveira, 20 years old;
- Kayky Lopes do Espírito Santo, 22 years old;
- The suspect who died at the scene has not yet been identified.
The case has been handed over to the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), which will be in charge of investigations.
