MADRID, December 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Greek coast guard on Saturday found the lifeless bodies of 17 migrants in a rubber dinghy adrift near the coast of the island of Crete, where only two survivors were found, who attributed the sinking to bad weather.

Greek state broadcaster ERT reported that the ship was sighted by a Turkish-flagged merchant ship 26 miles off the coast. The coast guard found the boat half-sunken and completely uncontrolled with the bodies inside.

The stories of the survivors, whose lives are not in danger, coincide with the storm that has been shaking the surroundings of Crete for several days and which recorded winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. There was no food or water in the boat.

Pending investigation to determine their place of origin, Crete is usually the end of the perilous journey that migrants begin along the road to Tobruk, Libya.
