During a patrol, the team was called by members of the public after a woman, in a fit of anger, locked herself in the toilet at the house with her daughter.
Armed with a knife and a cutter, the woman made constant death threats against her own life and against the integrity of the newborn, having refused to cooperate with the police’s arrest orders.
Faced with the imminent risk and the seriousness of the situation, which is evolving towards a scenario of attempted infanticide, the military police begin the negotiation protocol.
The team managed to remove the knife that was in the woman’s possession. However, when they were taken to another room, the woman took out a box cutter and tried to harm herself and the baby.
According to the PMDF, it was necessary to use force to immobilize the attacker and safely rescue the child.
After the confinement, the DF Military Firefighters (CBMDF) provided first aid and took the two to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of São Sebastião, where injuries were noted on the mother’s wrists.
Once the medical treatment was completed, the author was taken to the police station so that the arrest report could be drawn up and appropriate legal measures taken.
The newborn was handed over to his grandmother under all legal precautions. The action also resulted in the seizure of the knife and cutter.
