20 years ago, Bruna Marquezine played an unforgettable role in one of her first soap operas on Globo. The actress’ dedication earned her a very unusual compliment from a co-star.
THE National Day of the Visually Impaired is celebrated this Saturday (13) and in the history of soap operas, several celebrities have played characters like this. Among them, Arnaud Rodrigues – fatal victim of a shipwreck in the 2010s -, Sophie Charlotte, Marcos Frota and Bruna Marquezine.
The latter two brought to life their friends Jatobá and Maria Flor in “América” (Globo, 2005), a story by Gloria Perez, an author who left the channel this year after seeing a bold summary opposed by the channel’s management. Daughter of Islene (Paula Burlamaqui), the young girl manages to become independent thanks to Jatobá.
When “América” was broadcast, Bruna was 8 years old and already about five years into her career, since her debut in “Gente Inocente?!”, when she surprised Miguel Falabella with a “prick”. And he made his second serial after giving life to Salete in “Mulheres Apaixonadas” (2003).

And it was in June 2005 for the magazine “IstoÉ Gente”, which Paula Burlamaqui paid Bruna a very unusual compliment. “I tell Bruna that she looks like an ET. She’s not from this world”the actress said, adding that she learned daily from the then newcomer.
Bruna stepped into the role after Gloria’s invitation, but admitted she was apprehensive about the responsibility. “I told the directors, “I want to do it.” And at the same time I said to myself: ‘Can I do it?’“, he asked.
