Eibar (Gipuzkoa), December 14 (EFE). – Atlético de Madrid conceded an unexpected draw (2-2) this Sunday in its visit to Ipurua, where it faced a rebellious and dominant Eibar in many phases of a game that ended with a points distribution that diminished the Madrid team’s chances of getting closer to the Champions League places.
Eibar’s ultimate success was that it disrupted Atlético’s traffic and prevented them from regularly visiting the area.
However, they did not achieve this at the first opportunity, as in one of their first attempts, Atlético managed to take the lead after ten minutes with a goal from Norwegian international Synne Jensen, the former Real Sociedad player, who, in collaboration with Boe Risa, paved the way for their team.
Certainly a Madrid team that looked very much on track at the start of the game certainly thought so, but after ten disappointing minutes in defence, Eibar’s best offense this season, strangely two Gipuzkoan goals came that completely turned the result around.
Andrés equalized with a great header, assisted by a measured cross from Camino. The impetus for the celebration would extend Eibar’s state of grace with an internship with Moreno, who was loaned to the Eibar team from Atlético this year and who, with the help of Sánchez, defeated Larque. However, out of respect for the Colchonero club, he almost didn’t celebrate his team’s important goal.
Visiting coach Víctor Alba must have experienced enormous disappointment when he entered the dressing room, because in the second half he made four substitutions at once, all in midfield and defense, with the result that Lloris remained on the field despite a yellow card that forced him to exercise restraint to avoid taking an early shower.
But Atlético de Madrid were lucky and, after a VAR review, were favored by a handball in the local penalty area and the subsequent penalty, which Boe Risa converted. The two-goal draw opened a new game after being in a bind.
However, the scoreboard didn’t move as Eibar were very strong in their field and Atlético also didn’t have much to do after the European Cup win in Germany, so between fouls and VAR checks they spent the last few minutes without changing the tie on the scoreboard.
