45 years ago, the red and black team won the first Libertadores, on November 23, 1981, in Montevideo, beating the Chilean Cobreloa, 2-0, with two goals from their best number 10 of all time.
It was the third match of the decider. Flamengo won the first duel, at the Maracanã, 2-1, also with two goals from Zico, and lost the violent clash in Santiago 1-0.
Even the death by drowning of coach Cláudio Coutinho four days later did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Flamengo team. On November 6, 1981, the Rio title was won by his greatest rival. Adílio and Nunes scored in the 2-1 victory against Vasco, in a packed Maracanã, with almost 170,000 spectators.
The icing on the cake of 1981 was obtained on December 13, in Tokyo, with the world title, after a relentless victory over Liverpool, 3-0, with all the goals scored in the first half. Nunes scored 2 and Adílio, one.

This year’s Libertadores was won with a 1-0 victory over Palmeiras, scored by defender Danilo, in Lima, Peru on November 29.
On December 3, Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique and their teammates celebrated the Brasileirão, after beating Ceará, at the Maracanã, 1-0, thanks to a goal from Samuel Lino.
Flamengo makes its debut at the Coa Intercontinental in Qatar this Wednesday against Mexican Cruz Azul. If they win, they will face the Egyptian Pyramids on Saturday. Another victory will put the red-black team in the decision with Paris Saint-Germain. If Flamengo succeeds in its participation in the World Cup, it will add three titles in 19 days.
