As of 1:30 p.m. this Sunday, the La Marató 2025 program has raised a total of 1,236,598 euros for cancer research, a higher figure than last year at the same time, reports the 3Cat platform. The scoreboard was announced from the Vic football field (Barcelona) with a number formed by the number of players who participated in the traditional celebrity match.
During the morning, the program included musical performances by Titó, Beta, Lildami, Buhos, Samurai and Blaumut, among testimonies from people who suffer or have suffered from the disease and experts in medical broadcasting on cancer.
The La Marató 2025 program offers more than 17 hours live this Sunday to raise awareness about the prevention and early detection of cancer and promote research to fight this disease. With the motto “Let’s detect it, let’s fix it”, 3Cat and Fundació La Marató offer programming that will last until dawn thanks to a coordinated deployment throughout the Catalan territory which will be broadcast through television, radio and digital platforms.
The day started early in the morning with a special edition of “El supplement” from Catalunya Ràdio, with Roger Escapa from the port of Tarragona. From 9:00 a.m., Ramon Pellicer presents on TV3 La Marató from the Bellesguard Tower, a work by Antoni Gaudí and a former oncology clinic between 1944 and 1969. In the afternoon the program will continue from set 1 of Sant Joan Despí.
The program will feature voices who have experienced cancer up close, such as Júlia Otero, Òscar Dalmau, Ricky Rubio and Andrea Fuentes, among others, as well as anonymous witnesses who will help understand the impact of the disease on a daily basis. Throughout the day, artists such as Pablo Alborán, Antonio Orozco, Rigoberta Bandini, Mishima, Els Catarres and Lax’n’Busto will perform.
Like every year, the Catalan territory has mobilized and is organizing solidarity events in different places to raise funds to fight cancer. This year there will be more than 3,000 activities, including concerts, sports competitions, festivals, walks or popular meals, among others.
Donations can be made on the La Marató website, at Bizum 33333, by bank transfer and by calling 900 21 50 50, which will only be operational on Sunday. More than 1,200 volunteers will be distributed between the four telephone service points to collect donations: Fira de Barcelona, Palau de Congressos de Girona, Universitat de Lleida and Port of Tarragona.
During its 33 editions, La Marató raised 257.5 million euros and financed 1,048 projects with the participation of 1,762 teams and 11,541 researchers.
