A survey by Instituto Locomotivea, carried out in partnership with QuestionPro, reveals that around 47% of Brazilians intend to travel at the end of the year. The percentage is higher among people with higher incomes (57% belong to class AB) and workers with a formal contract: 60% compared to 40% for self-employed workers.
The survey was carried out between November 27 and December 5 using digital interviews with 1,500 people. The margin of error is 2.5 percentage points.
The research also shows that travel intentions are higher among those with children (50%) and among Gen Z (53%) and Millennials (56%).
Beaches are the choice of 64% of travelers, compared to 14% who say they should visit small towns off the coast. Another 12% said they would travel to major urban centers.
The majority (42%) said they wanted to stay in hotels or guesthouses. 26% chose rental houses or apartments and 22% chose their own or borrowed properties.
“The end of the year brings together a very strong desire to travel, especially among young people from Generation Z and among adults with children. Many families combine the desire to travel with the need to create programs for their children during the school holidays,” explains the president of the Instituto Locomotive, Renato Meirelles.
