The weekend of December 13 and 14 in Seville was once again significantly marked by the large number of events that constrained citizens due to the lack of police presence be more alert than necessary again … everyone always keeping in mind the large crowds that occur during these Christmas days, which are already experienced with great intensity throughout the center thanks to all the social activity that a city like the capital Seville generates, without forgetting the interest generated by Christmas shopping and other typical events of the season.
This state of precaution continues to occur in large part because of the repeated absence of hundreds and hundreds of members of the local police who, like what happened during the famous Christmas lights weekend, a good number of them were still absent just a few days before Christmas Eve. In fact, more than 57 percent of agents summoned for Sunday were absent from work. We can therefore practically say that two out of three agents have once again failed in their commitment to citizens, despite the risks that this entailed.
This represents, as this newspaper learned, a total amount of 178 police officers absent out of the 320 summoned and distributed between the different daily shifts this Sunday: morning, afternoon and night. The pulse of the Local Police therefore follows a government, that of Sanz, whose mission is to unblock this Monday one of the files that give the most headaches to the Municipal Executive, such as the mobilization of credit to finance the overtime of the Local Police this Christmas, with this legal maximum of 5.6 million euros available on the table.
It is not for nothing that up to 56 local police officers were absent last Saturday from their various duties during the hours organized by the Security Corps at the municipal level. But it was this Sunday that the highest number of victims was recorded, with 55 absent out of the 110 agents called for the morning shift; 93 were absent out of the 134 scheduled for the evening, and at night, 30 out of 76 did not respond to the call, although it remains to be seen who justified these absences. There were 142 local police officers which covered the whole day of Sunday in Seville.
Despite these figures that continue to highlight the lack of engagement of the local police with the city, in a problem that has no firm solution at the moment, Seville continued to witness massive events this Sunday, such as the match between Sevilla and Oviedo (4-0) which was played at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium in front of no less than 32,885 spectators.
This is not the case of the transfer of the Virgin of Guadalupe from the Brotherhood of the Waters to the Tabernacle Church of the Cathedral, because the corporation of Holy Monday noted the lack of sufficient police personnel to be able to carry out this external cult, being the second cult that it must cancel for this same reason. Despite the absence of the police, union mobilizations, zambombas in several districts of the capital and markets took place, but in the absence of a conclusion to the day and without any major incident recorded, the risk remains present.
