Mhnet Telecom officially announces the arrival of 5G technology in the municipalities of Maravilha and Romelândia, in the far west of Santa Catarina, inaugurating a new chapter in the process of digital modernization of the interior of Brazil. Although 5G is already present in the country’s capitals and large urban centers, the expansion of this technology in small and medium-sized cities remains an important challenge and, at the same time, an opportunity to reduce inequalities of access and expand the productive potential of the regions.
With this launch, Maravilha and Romelândia join a still small group of municipalities that benefit from cutting-edge mobile infrastructure outside major urban centers. The new network offers a higher standard of connectivity than 4G, with up to ten times faster speeds, reduced latency and greater capacity for multiple simultaneous devices. These advances increase the quality of individual connections and, above all, allow inland cities to have access to the same technological conditions that stimulate innovation, competitiveness and the development of large metropolises.
For the CEO of Mhnet Telecom, Patrick Canton, this expansion has a strong symbolic and strategic value. “The arrival of 5G in Maravilha and Romelândia represents more than a technological advance: it is the continuation of our commitment to regional development. Maravilha is the birthplace of Mhnet, and bringing technology here that is already transforming the country’s major centers reinforces that the interior also deserves and needs to be connected in the future. It is a source of great pride to carry out a project that brings people, businesses and cities closer to the opportunities of the new digital economy.
While major capitals are making rapid progress in adopting the technologies enabled by 5G, many Brazilian cities still rely on limited mobile infrastructure, limiting the advancement of sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, public management, education and security. This inequality must be avoided, because it results in unfair competition compared to people who do not have the same connectivity, this is what the lawyer specializing in digital law, Mário Paiva, affirms in an interview with the site brasil61. It is in this context that the arrival of 5G in the Far West of Santa Catarina becomes particularly relevant: by reducing the technological gap between the interior and the large centers, the new network opens up real possibilities for transformation.
The difference between 4G and 5G is significant. The new generation can achieve speeds of 1 to 3 Gbps, well above the 20 to 100 Mbps common in 4G. Latency is much lower, making response time almost instantaneous. These characteristics, namely short response time, high connectivity capacity and superior speed, are fundamental for very complex applications, such as augmented and virtual reality, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, machine-assisted surgeries, remote control of agricultural equipment and advanced measurements in the countryside and in the city.
Additionally, 5G has the capacity to connect a much larger volume of devices per square kilometer, reaching more than a million, which is essential for structuring Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems, urban sensors, smart cameras and surveillance networks.
For Mhnet Telecom’s retail sales director, Flávio José Sehn, residents of both cities are already starting to notice the benefits from the first day of operation.
“For us at Mhnet, it is a great satisfaction to be pioneers in the introduction of 5G technology in our region. We have the entire structure prepared and operating with the most advanced connectivity, thus reinforcing our mission to connect people and businesses with agile, quality and efficient technological solutions.
For businesses, rural producers, industries and service providers, 5G also represents the opportunity to adopt automation systems, increase efficiency and integrate productivity technologies that previously depended on structures limited to Brazilian capital.
Infrastructure ready to grow
Mhnet has structured a technology suite in cities, which includes state-of-the-art equipment, full integration between mobile and fiber optic networks, high capacity radio base stations, specialized technical support and the offering of physical chips and eSIMs. This infrastructure places Maravilha and Romelândia among the municipalities prepared within Brazil to receive new generation technological solutions.
An important milestone in the year when Mhnet celebrates its 23rd birthday
The launch also coincides with the year Mhnet Telecom celebrates 23 years of its establishment. Born in Maravilha, the company has grown from a local supplier to one of the largest telecommunications operators in Brazil, with more than 70 units, a presence in five states and serving more than 300,000 customers. This significant growth reinforces the operator’s responsibility to continue to invest in high-performance infrastructure and to democratize access to technology in all regions, particularly those that historically receive less attention in major national projects.
