Birthday… ugh, there must be as many feelings as there are people in this world. In addition, each of these people will certainly have different reactions throughout their lives, depending on their age, stage, emotional moment and much more.
Let’s set a limit. For example, let’s say we’re 12/14. Years of age (I know that’s arbitrary, but who isn’t in a way) are dependent on our elders. Then the parents invite the whole family and a few friends from school and/or the neighborhood to the party. Be careful, in some cases this date is not very different from any other day (except for gifts), especially in large families (I know what I’m talking about).
But let’s get to the most interesting part, when you start deciding for yourself. We could set two initiation dates: 18 for men, 15 for women (so far I haven’t found similar milestones for other genders or self-perceived genders), and 20, in this case as the first decade when many of us begin to feel these round anniversary celebrations. And the 30? “Ugh, we’re not so young anymore, it’s about time we got clear about what we want and where we want to go, right?”
It’s true, sometimes this moment is delayed and it is not the death of anyone. Furthermore, at this point, this age could be the time to deviate and change path. After all, the new generations don’t marry anyone or anything.
Now what do you do if the birthday is not a round number, not an end/beginning of the cycle? One could say that there is always something to celebrate or to take stock of, a plan for the future. Luckily, these days you can look to social media for help in understanding an anniversary.
A digital alert alerted me to the use of the phrase “6-7.” With the now classic statements: “What does the expression 6-7 mean”. “Why the expression 6-7 is used in social networks.” “What do teenagers mean by the expression 6-7?”
Since I don’t usually click on these notifications (unless they come from a reliable source), I decided to consult the artificial intelligence to see if it could find a special reason to celebrate. I started with Copilot and was disappointed. The expression “comes from the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by rapper Skrilla, released in late 2024, in which he recites “6-7″ as part of the lyrics” and went viral when Mr. Skrilla’s clip “was used in video edits of LaMelo Ball,” a 6-foot-1 basketball player. I turned 67 last week, but I’m barely over 5 feet 7 inches tall. Of course I had no idea what they were talking about, but I’ll try to keep up with it.
But my biggest disappointment was when I asked what the real meaning was: “It doesn’t have a fixed meaning; it’s used as slang.” nonsensea kind of playful or joking expression. It is considered part of the phenomenon known as Brain rot slangwhere the word itself and its use – not its literal meaning – is what creates a humorous social connection between children and young people.” I feel young, but not that young…
I had read enthusiastically in another application that it is sometimes used to “indicate a person’s physical attractiveness,” as “a discrete code.” Gemini.com “chucked me up” by pointing out that “in the digital culture of dating and TikTok, it’s common to rate a person’s physical attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10” and that in this context, “when someone uses 6-7 to rate another person’s looks, it’s a kind of expression that that person is slightly better than average.” However, he concludes that it is also a way to be diplomatic so as not to “hurt feelings.” Better than average? Average of what? Label me whatever you want, at this point it’s all about life, young Litto would say.
