
A 60-year-old man was rescued by the Paraná Civil Police (PCPR) after remaining in captivity for approximately 36 hours in the western region of the state. The victim, a resident of Vera Cruz do Oeste, was kidnapped on Sunday (12/07), after being scammed while arranging a romantic date. The captivity was broken on Monday (8/12) in the rural area of Missal, Paraná.

The crime was only discovered because the victim’s stolen truck was intercepted by Paraguayan authorities on the Ponte da Amizade, the border between Brazil and Paraguay. After verifying that the driver was not the owner of the vehicle, customs officers called the PCPR. The victim’s daughter was contacted and confirmed her father’s disappearance.
