In fact, the champion of the competition will pocket the prize of R$77.1 million, without taking into account what was added throughout the campaign. The amount is more than double that paid to the finalist, who wins 33 million reais.
According to the competition regulations, prizes begin to be paid from the first phase of the Copa do Brasil. Present in the tournament since the beginning, Fluminense and Vasco each received 24 million reais for the campaign.
Thus, in the event of a title for one of Rio’s two rivals, the champion would finish the competition with a total of R$101.1 million in prize money.
On the other side of the semi-final, Corinthians and Cruzeiro entered the fray in the third phase of the competition. They therefore collected a little less than 20.6 million reais each. In other words, if the trophy goes to one of the two, the total prize for the champion will be 97.7 million reais.
The return matches of the semi-finals take place this Sunday 14. First, at 6 p.m. (Brasilia time), Corinthians welcome Cruzeiro to the Neo Química Arena. Shortly after, at 8:30 p.m., it was the turn of Fluminense and Vasco to face each other at the Maracanã.
