SANTA FE.- An unexpected turn came in the case of the death of a 15-year-old teenager, whose body was found in a decomposed state last Monday in a warehouse in the Chalet district next to the Colón Stadium. A 16-year-old teenager who would have seduced the victim through contacts on social networks has been arrested in the last few hours and, based on the information collected in the case, the provincial judge will accuse her of responsibility for the murder of Jeremías Monzón.
The case shocked this city as two more minors were arrested. One of them was brought to justice by his own mother.
According to investigators, this minor allegedly recorded a video of the moment Monzón was murdered. The content of this filming would prove the involvement of the minor, the sources consulted admitted THE NATION.
According to reports that emerged this Saturday, police forces issued a court order last midnight and began arresting the minor, whose initials are MA, and is believed to be the young woman who had a relationship with the murdered teenager, as initially reported.
In the meantime, THE NATION could learn that the indictment hearing will take place next Monday in the courts of this capital, ordered by the prosecutors Francisco Cechini and Ana Laura Gioria of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPA).
On the other hand, it was confirmed that in the last hours raids were carried out in the city of Santa Fe, during which investigators collected elements of interest in the case that is still open and are now focusing on the reconstruction of the last hours of the teenager and the identification of those responsible for the crime, while the judicial and expert measures ordered by the prosecutor’s office advance.
The discovery of the body
The crime of Jeremías Monzón was revealed on Monday 22 when police officers, alerted by neighbors, went to a warehouse at the southern entrance to this city, at the highway bridge that connects Santa Fe with the neighboring city of Santo Tomé, in front of the Colón club stadium.
The subsequent autopsy revealed that the body had between 20 and 23 stab wounds and the death dates back to the previous Thursday, when his family began searching for him, although the report was not filed until the following day.
The first reports pointed to a 16-year-old teenager whom Monzón met through social networks and who lived in one of the blocks in the Centenario neighborhood next to the Colón Stadium.
Although it was initially said that the victim had a relationship with this woman, the murdered young man’s relatives got to know her through social networks and the first personal contact would take place on the day of his death.
MA, the teenager whose family reported her disappearance the same day Monzón’s body was found, suddenly appeared the next day at a home for minors in this capital, accompanied by a family member.
Until then, it was assumed that such an attitude was due to preventative behavior given the scale of what was happening. Nevertheless, the case to date has been about settlement of accounts between groups of young people, although for various reasons the existence of illegal substances could not be ruled out.
Even the warehouse where Monzón’s body was found was used by local youths for their drug use, according to complaints from relatives of drug addicts.
The background suggests that Jeremías traveled from Santo Tomé to Santa Fe to meet the young woman, an encounter that was recorded by video surveillance cameras. His body was later found lifeless in the abandoned building and it was determined that death had occurred between 72 and 96 hours before the discovery.
Meanwhile, this Friday evening, at the invitation of friends and family of the victim, around a hundred people gathered in the area known as “The Five Corners” of Santo Tomé to demand progress in the investigation, which happened hours later.
After MA’s arrest, prosecutors Cecina and Gioria, who had previously gathered elements of interest in the case in various trials, including in the lake of the so-called South Park of this capital, have scheduled the hearing for next Monday in the Municipal Court, where the detained woman will be charged with qualified homicide. The other prisoners would also be accused of murder.
