A child reporter goes viral with a dream of covering the Libertadores final

Clever Huaman Sanchez, a 15-year-old boy from Andahuaylas in Peru, has taken social media by storm with his determination to provide full sports coverage of the Libertadores final between Flamengo and Palmeiras last Sunday (30/11).

The young journalist, who has been producing content for Pol Deportes’ TikTok profile for more than a year, traveled more than 18 hours to Lima, the capital of Peru, to follow the sports match closely. The promise he made to his followers was to broadcast the match live from Monumental Stadium.

Clever closely followed the moments leading up to the match and interviewed Brazilian fans concerned about the impressive result. The boy was not allowed to enter with the rest of the press team to watch the match.

But the refusal did not surprise the boy. With only a tripod, microphone and backpack, he took a motorbike taxi to Cerro Porochuco, a mountainous formation that offers an elevated view of the stadium.

Then the journalist fulfilled his promise and broadcast the match live to his followers. In addition, he also acted as a commentator, highlighting the best moments of the feud between the Brazilian teams.

The story impressed fans around the world and made news in several South American media outlets. One netizen commented: “Is this the true meaning of journalism? We have finally seen a true passion for communication again.”
