
Brazilian cinema is experiencing moments of glory with the success of “I’m still here” and “Secret Agent”. But, in the shadow of the audiovisual sector, the atmosphere is one of anxiety and divergence around the publication, this Monday, of the report by Senator Eduardo Gomes and the vote, the next day, on the project which regulates, after a decade, the streaming sector.
A manifesto with nearly 500 signatures from cinema people claims that the process was poorly conducted – in a criticism of Minister Margareth Menezes – and that it does not accept the “least worst” solution. The letter is subtitled “We are all Wagner Moura”, referring to the video in which the great actor demanded, among other things, higher taxes on businesses, which should be around 4%.
