Residents of Christchurch, New Zealand were perplexed by a series of signs apparently official with messages including: “This area is a little haunted, but manageable. »
The posters, placed in various locations around the city, initially appear to be official notices from City Hall, but closer inspection revealed the words “Christchurch city confusion“, at the bottom instead of “Christchurch City Council”.
Another warning simply said “No.” Another, located in a pedestrian zone, warned passers-by that the “Speed Limit for walking it was 2.83 km/h (1.75 mph).”
The fun signs were created by the artist Cameron Huntas part of the Little Street Art Festival.
“The idea was to make signs that appear official, but with completely absurd messages, creating moments of confusion, followed by good laughs,” commented Hunt to the “Guardian”.
“I like to see the people’s reactions: either they laugh instantly or there is a bit of bewilderment. “Art should make the viewer think,” he added.
