National Police agents dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to indoor marijuana cultivation after arresting three men aged 36, 40 and 43. As part of the operation, the agents intervened in a plantation with 615 marijuana plants … which was hidden in an industrial warehouse in the town of Petrer in Alicante.
The police investigation began after becoming aware, based on various information, of the existence of a marijuana plantation in an industrial warehouse in the municipality of Alicante. According to the information received, there was “a smell and noise of fans which operated day and night”, as well as the possible existence of an illegal connection to the electricity network.
According to police sources, the investigations made it possible to collect evidence, verify the geographical location of the vessel in question and identify its owners.
Subsequently, investigators carried out various surveillance which confirmed that no commercial activity was taking place on board the vessel. During the observations, the agents checked the continuous operation of the air conditioning systems, the presence of an intense odor characteristic of marijuana plantations and the existence of signs of possible electrical fluid fraud.
Given these facts and with sufficient evidence of the existence of an illegal plantation, the National Police requested the judicial authority to enter and search the warehouse under investigation.
During the search, officers located a marijuana plantation with a total of 615 plants, 23,315 grams of buds, 2,200 euros in cash and a vehicle. Additionally, three men were arrested for the crimes of drug trafficking, electricity fraud and membership in a criminal group. For its part, the National Police confirmed the existence of an illegal connection to the electricity network.
The detainees, after carrying out police procedures, were placed at the disposal of the investigating courts stationed in the town of Elda.
