The Civil Guard dismantled a criminal organization specialized in theft inside trucks parked in the logistics and service areas of Guadalajara, Toledo and Madrid. The operation, called Hispan, resulted in the arrest of twelve people … to which a total of 22 crimes. During the operation, effects worth 800,000 euros were recovered, as well as three heavy goods vehicles and a car.
The investigation began after detecting an increase in thefts from transport vehicles parked at Ocaña Service Areasin the province of Toledo. As the investigation progressed, agents confirmed the existence of a perfectly structured criminal group, with a defined distribution of functions, prior planning and the ability to travel between different provinces to commit the thefts.
The perpetrators usually gathered in the service areas close to Madrid and from these points they went to the places chosen to commit the crimes. Once the trucks were located, they cut the tarpaulins and They stole goods of great economic value. Items stolen included household appliances, copper, automotive items and pharmaceuticals. This method has caused significant harm to both the supply chains and the carriers involved.
After each hit, the organization is gone “cool” stolen merchandise before introducing it onto the clandestine market. This practice made it difficult to trace products and prolonged their storage life.
Among the recovered materials are nearly half a thousand batteries
In the first phase of the operation, two large trucks intervened. One transported 292 automobile batteries and the second transported pharmaceutical products worth 531,000 euros. Both shipments could then be returned to their rightful owners.
The first results led the researchers to detect a change in strategy within the group. From then on, they began to hide stolen trucks in industrial areas. store merchandise in rental warehouses located in the Community of Madrid, in order to make police work difficult.
In a second phase, the agents arrested in Madrid six people traveling in a truck loaded with stolen canned goods. The subsequent search of one of the storage premises made it possible to locate and seize 466 batteries, 730 photovoltaic panels and other products of high economic value.
The final phase of the operation resulted in the arrest of six other people linked to the group. In addition, three other individuals were investigated for their relationship with the organization and another for the crime of receiving goods of high economic value.
