
The collision of a horse, at kilometer 52 of the Anhanguera highway (SP-330), near Jundiaí (SP), caused a sequence of accidents in an accident involving at least six cars, in the early hours of this Thursday (25/12).
How did the accident happen?
- According to information from the São Paulo Transport Regulatory Agency (Artesp), the animal invaded the southern lane (in the direction of Campinas) and was hit by a first vehicle, around 3:30 a.m.
- After the accident, the horse was thrown against the median barrier of the highway and crossed the northern lane (in the direction of São Paulo, capital). The animal remained lying there.
- The episode worsened when a second vehicle hit the horse, stopping right in front of it. A third car hit the rear of this vehicle then crashed into the metal road protection barrier. Three other cars were involved in the pileup.
- One person died and at least eight were injured. Two were rescued in serious condition, two others were rescued in moderate condition and four victims were lightly injured.
According to information from the Autoban dealership, all the injured were transported to the São Vicente and Universitário hospitals, in Jundiaí. The Samu and road, civil and scientific police teams also provided support.
Closed after the accident, two lanes of the Anhanguera highway were reopened around 7 a.m. Until around 9:30 a.m., the shoulder and the loop from the marginal lane to the expressway remained closed.

“Autoban was called at 3:26 a.m. to respond to an incident at km 52 of Rodovia Anhanguera, Jundiaí.
A passenger vehicle ran over a horse, ejecting it into the northbound lane, causing a pileup of 5 other vehicles.
19 victims were recorded, 1 fatal, 2 serious, 2 moderate, 4 slight and 10 unharmed.
The dealership’s teams provided assistance and transported the victims to the São Vicente Hospital and the University Hospital. Teams from the Samu, PMR, Civil Police and Scientific Police are also on site to provide support.
The incident continues. There was a closure of lanes 2, 3, a shoulder and a transposition of the marginal road towards the highway. But, at 7:05 a.m., lanes 2 and 3 were reopened, with only the shoulder and shoulder of the expressway remaining closed.
There is currently no congestion. Smooth circulation normally. Dealership crews are still at the scene of the accident to guide traffic safely.
