The husband of a 51-year-old driver who died tonight in Muñoz (Ourense) after a head-on collision has died after suffering a heart attack when he learned of the accident. The driver of the truck that collided with the deceased’s vehicle was driving under the influence of alcohol, recording a rate of 0.64 mg/L in the first test and 0.58 mg/L in the second test.

The Civil Guard reported that the accident occurred at the 5th kilometer point of a road with good visibility, OU-1205, near Porqueros. The Citroën Saxo driven by the woman, resident of Requiás, in the municipality of Muíños, was involved in a head-on collision with an Opel Combo at 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the truck that invaded the opposite lane was transferred to the University Hospital of Ourense (CHUO) complex in light condition, according to the Armed Institute. Civil Guard sources told EFE that the husband of the Saxo driver, when he arrived at the scene and received news of her death, suffered a heart attack that caused his death.

The 51-year-old woman, who was returning from work in a house, was trapped inside the car, so her release was necessary, as the Sanitary Emergency of Galicia-061, the Supra-Municipal Emergency Group (GES) of Muñoz and the Civil Traffic Guard intervened.

When she was recovered from inside the car, the emergency teams were unable to do anything to save her life, nor the life of her husband, as shortly before midnight he began to feel unwell and suffered a vascular accident at the same scene of the accident. Failed resuscitation maneuvers continued for a long time. The couple had a son.
