A man was shot dead Saturday evening in Bento Ribeiro, in the northern zone of Rio, after an attempted robbery. The crime took place in Manágua Square and mobilized teams of military police, civil police and firefighters. The residents were afraid.
According to the Press Office of the State Secretariat of Military Police, police officers from the 9th BPM (Rocha Miranda) were called to a homicide in the region. Upon arriving at the scene, officers noted that there was a lifeless victim with bullet marks.
Residents in the area say they are surprised by the crime, as it was not possible to hear the sound of gunshots Saturday evening.
— Yesterday, I left the house a little later because there was a show that started later. I was scared, there was a dead man on the ground, military and civilian police vehicles and they said he had been shot. I even sent a message to the group of neighbors, but no one listened either — said a resident.
The victim was identified as Cristopher Philip Alves Ferra, 37. The expertise was requested and carried out on site, and the case was under the responsibility of the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), which is investigating the circumstances of the crime.
Firefighters reported receiving the call around 10:30 p.m. After the usual procedures, Cristopher’s body was sent to the Instituto Médico Legal (IML) Afrânio Peixoto in central Rio.
At this time, there is no information on the suspects or the motives for the crime. Investigations remain ongoing.
