Just hours after the worst Christmas Eve in recent years in Madrid, with two violent deaths in Puente de Vallecas and Chamberí, a third man was stabbed to death in a house in Leganés. The events took place at … 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Alpujarra Street, when the victim was allegedly murdered by his own brother after a heated argument broke out between the two.
It was the neighbors themselves who raised the alarm when they heard the screams, so the National Police citizen security patrols closest to the property were quickly activated. Upon entering the house, officers found a 53-year-old Spanish man lying on the floor with several stab wounds and no apparent signs of life. In fact, the displaced health services could only confirm the death.
Inside the house was also another man, aged 49 and brother of the deceased, who was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the homicide. As ABC learned, he is a psychiatric patient. Homicide Group VI took charge of the investigations, while members of the DEVI forensic police carried out a visual inspection inside the apartment.
The crime occurred a few hours after the discovery of the bodies of two individuals, both armed with bladed weapons, in Puente de Vallecas and Chamberí. Although the two events, which occurred less than 4 hours apart, are not linked to each other, their outcome already represents the worst Christmas day in Madrid in recent years.
The first case took place shortly before 2 a.m., at number 23 Lagartera Street in Vallecano, where two groups of young people started an argument that quickly escalated. After the first call to 091, several indicators from the Citizen Assistance Group (GAC) immediately went to the scene and met one of the injured people involved, a 17-year-old minor born in Spain, in cardiorespiratory arrest after receiving a fatal blow to the left hemithorax. Two young people, a 19-year-old Spaniard and a 21-year-old Venezuelan, were arrested by the national police for the alleged crime of intentional homicide.
The other event occurred at 5:40 a.m., on Alonso Cano Street, in the Chamberí neighborhood. In this case, it concerns a 63-year-old man of Bolivian origin, who, like the minor, was found in cardiorespiratory arrest following several stab wounds, including one to the chest and another to the side. Next to the body, officers found the used knife. Homicide Group VI is also carrying out investigations which, initially, would indicate a possible suicide, a suspicion always subject to confirmation by the medical examiner.
