A man from Michigan, USA, won a huge prize after finding a forgotten crossed-out ticket on a gas station counter. According to a press release from the lottery, the 33-year-old won more than R$5 million.
“There was a separate ticket for Blazing Suits on the table, and someone had given up on buying it, so I bought it,” said the player, who preferred to remain anonymous. “I scratched the ticket and couldn’t believe it when I saw it was a million-dollar prize. I never imagined I would win such a big lottery prize, so it’s truly a blessing.”
According to the Michigan Lottery, the man purchased the winning $10 ticket from Fawaz Petroleum LLC, located on Schoolcraft Road in Detroit. The winner visited the lottery headquarters to claim his prize and chose to receive the full amount in a single payment of approximately US$693,000 (more than R$3 million), instead of annual payments.
Now he hopes to save money for emergencies. “Winning feels great, but it also comes with a lot of pressure because you start thinking about all the different things you can do with that amount of money.”
