The Municipal Council of Anhembi, in the interior of São Paulo, decided, by majority, to revoke the mandate of Councilor Rafaela Souza de Góis (Republicans) during an extraordinary session held last Friday (12/05).
The decision was taken after councilors endorsed the Process Committee’s advice, which highlighted a breach of parliamentary decorum, an abuse of authority and inappropriate use of the House structure to intimidate colleagues. With the impeachment, Rafaela loses her mandate and becomes ineligible.

The episode that gave rise to the complaint occurred during a session of the Chamber, when Councilor Douglas de Oliveira Fernandes Jorge questioned Rafaela about an alleged process involving a property near the Anhembi City Hall. According to the parliamentarian, he only asked if the advisor had lost the case. Rafaela responded that the matter was kept under judicial secrecy and that she could not speak publicly.
Rafaela then called the Military Police (MP), claiming she felt threatened and, according to Douglas and witnesses present, she prevented the parliamentarian from leaving the plenary session until the police arrived – an act that would constitute coercion and a violation of the right to come and go.
