The Central Veterinary Laboratory of Algete (Madrid) confirmed the positive result for the African swine fever (ASF) virus in a wild boar killed within a radius of six kilometers around the first outbreak, which brings the number of positives to 27, reported this Friday the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The ministry added that 193 wild boar carcasses were analyzed found dead within a 20 kilometer radius of the first outbreak and who tested negative for the disease.
He stressed that these conclusions are the result of “intense” field work carried out by Rural Agentsin collaboration with the Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard and the local Police.
The Government and the Generalitat have recalled the need to maintain a high level of vigilance, with high biosecurity measures both on farms and in wild boar populations.
The Government explained this Friday that it planned to publish the audit on Irta-CReSA carried out by a group of experts between next Monday and Tuesday, and which is still awaiting the sequencing of the viruses stored and worked in the center which is underway in the Algete laboratory.
