The launch schedule in the automotive industry remains busy, with announcements continuing into the final days of December.
One of the latest developments came from Forthing, a new Chinese brand that landed on the local market and belongs to Dongfeng, represented in Argentina by the group that imports trucks and commercial vehicles of the same origin, the Kama brand.
Forthing was presented on Thursday at an event in San Telmo, where the T5 was presented, a C-segment SUV, compact or mid-size; and the U-Tour, which belongs to the same category but has seven seats.
In this way, competition in the local market is becoming more and more intense and traditional companies are no longer the only ones paying attention to new players, but the Chinese brands themselves are paying great attention to the new compatriots coming into the country.
T5, a cheap SUV in its basic version
One of Forthing’s proposals concerns the new T5 SUV, which will be offered with three mechanical options.
One of them is the T5 MT, equipped with an engine 1.6 atmospheric, with 120 hp and 155 Nm, five-speed manual transmission.
The new T5 SUV competes in the mid-range segment.
The T5 Evo it has an engine 1.5 Turbo with 197 HP and 285 Nm, with seven-speed automatic transmission and dual clutch.
The T5 HEV hybrid and it has a motor 1.5 Turbo in conjunction with another electric, which deliver a total output of 252 HP and 300 Nm.
The basic T5 has equipment that is complete in the other versions. The front is matt black and chrome, with daytime running lights and fog lights. It has 16 inch wheels.
Inside there is a multifunction steering wheel with controls that can be adjusted in height and depth; electric rearview mirror adjustment. The screen is 10 inches, with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

In terms of safety, the basic equipment starts with two airbags, traction and stability control; Hill Start Assist; tire pressure monitor; rear parking radar; rear camera; among other things.
T5 SUV prices
The new Forthing models They differ greatly in terms of equipment and safety, which affects the price. From the entry level version which only has 2 airbags; There is a big difference to the most complete model, which is hybrid and benefits from state tax exemption.
