A retired military police officer pulled out a gun in a Salvador metro car after becoming involved in an argument. The case happened around 3 p.m. this Saturday (13) at Tamburugy station, on Avenida Paralela.
Witnesses say the argument began after a street vendor advertised his products inside the carriage, which is prohibited by the metro’s internal regulations. The police officer allegedly argued with the street vendor and a group of young people present at the scene.
Video recorded by a witness shows him pulling out a gun and holding it in his left hand, pointing down. Other videos show him being taken out of the subway car and pinned down by a young man. A woman who accompanied the police officer was also immobilized.
In a statement, Metrô Bahia reported that security agents had been called to intervene in the event of disagreement between customers. Military police were called and no injuries were reported.
Bahia military police said they were called after receiving a report of an armed man in the metro station and confirmed the incident when they arrived at the scene.
The man was later identified as a retired military police officer, who was allegedly involved in a disagreement when his firearm was stolen. A suspect was located, approached and detained in possession of the weapon.
The matter will be investigated by the civil police, who have recorded a detailed report of the crime of threatening. Those involved have been heard and will respond freely to the process.
