Six months after Andalusian Holy Week made history in Rome, A work is born intended to preserve his memory and transmit its value to new generations. In May, thousands of pilgrims and brothers experienced an unprecedented event: the Great … Procession and Jubilee of the Brotherhoods, a significant event that projected Andalusia and its traditions beyond our borders. With the emotion still latent, it is now presented “In the Paradise of Rome”, a family story that leaves a narrative, cultural and sentimental legacy of this unique experience.
The publicationnow available at the price of 5 euros, is not just a story for children: it is an educational proposition designed to help families and children understand what they have experienced and to assimilate the social, artistic and cultural dimension of an increasingly globalized phenomenon of brotherhood. Events such as the Stations of the Cross of World Youth Day, large processions or recent extraordinary events show how local traditions acquire international importance.
“In the paradise of Rome” combines a close, moving story with an educational guide including activities, curiosities and additional information, presented in an engaging format. The objective is twofold: to remember what was experienced in Rome and to offer an educational tool which allows children to understand how the brotherhood tradition evolves and projects into the future.
Synopsis: A reunion in the Eternal City
The story follows two young Andalusians, Andrés, from Seville and brother of Cachorro, and María, from Malaga and sister of Esperanza. Their paths cross again in Rome during the Jubilee of the Brotherhoodswhere they discover that Holy Week knows no borders. Through your eyes, readers can relive the traditions shared with cities like Genoa or León and deepen the universal meaning of devotions such as the Most Holy Christ of the Expiration and the Most Holy Mary of Hope of Malaga. It is a story of friendship, pride in one’s roots and the strength of a faith that illuminates and unites paths.
About the author
Francisco José Borge Morón (2001) is a researcher in training at the University of Seville, where he is developing his doctorate in theory and history of education. Passionate about teaching and Andalusian culture, he combines his academic work with the dissemination of the educational value of Holy Week, participating since 2011 in international events and celebrations such as WYD in Madrid and Lisbon. He has worked as a teacher in several centers and collaborates with the media through photography and writing, bringing Sevillian traditions closer to new generations.
Collaborations and support
The project required overcoming bureaucratic obstacles, institutional coordination and an economic effort entirely assumed by the author, with the aim of maintaining an accessible price. The work combines original photographs by Borge with illustrations selflessly created by Belén Abad, doctor of Fine Arts and professor at the University of Seville. In addition, under the educational supervision of Verónica Cobano-Delgado Palma, vice-dean of the Academic Organization of the Faculty of Education Sciences, guaranteeing the rigor and didactic coherence of the work.
