The 017 line of the “Your help in cybersecurity” service of the National Institute of Cybersecurity (Incibe), based in León, helped a mother who contacted this unit to warn her that a teacher at her daughter’s school had published … several photos of minors without consent and in one of them the girl appeared in her underwear.
The teacher had taken these images in the minors’ private rooms during an excursion and shared them, via private message on WhatsApp, with another mother at the center, who then sent them to the school’s parent group without respecting the authorized procedure for processing students’ images.
Additionally, despite being warned by the school, the teacher continued to share photos from the excursion. Faced with the seriousness of the situation, the Internet user decided to make the facts known. of the educational inspection and contact Incibe, from where they were informed that the centers have the responsibility to activate the corresponding protocol and can report through an anonymous circular.
On the other hand, those responsible for the 017 line also recommended that he report the case to the platform where the images were shared, contact WhatsApp to inquire about the application’s data processing, inform the parents who received the photos of the possible implications, collect evidence and evaluate file a complaint with state security forces and agencies.
She was also informed of the existing channels to report this situation, the priority channel and the hotline, and they invited her to carry out “egosurfing”, that is, a search for data on the Internet regarding her daughter with the aim of detecting any unwanted publications and being able to exercise the right to be forgotten and, finally, to contact the Data Protection Agency.
