Just after a season marked by two titles and a jump of 121 places in the league standings, ATP, João Fonseca enters 2026 in a new phase of his career. At 19 years old and world number 24, the Brazilian tennis player enters the calendar with the aim of consolidating himself among the main names on the circuit. The walk begins on hard ground, at ATP 250 Brisbanebetween January 4 and 11.
Despite his intense travel routine, João Fonseca decided to maintain his Rio de Janeiro as a basis. The hometown remains the point of return between tournaments. In it, the athlete trains, adjusts physical and technical details, and recovers energy alongside family and friends. The idea is to balance life on the circuit with a stable environment off the courts, which is considered essential to face a busier season in 2026.
In this scenario, the planning provides for participation in eight of the nine tournaments of the Masters 1000 series, in addition to five events of the ATP 500 category. The rule allows Monte Carlo, in April, to be the only Masters 1000 outside the mandatory calendar. These commitments are in addition to the four Grand Slams and the competitions of Davis Cupbuilding a season in which physical and mental management become important.
