The story of the discovery of Gürtel’s conspiracy will be broadcast on television as a series through a audiovisual adaptation of the book ‘Ana against Gürtel’as Confidencial Digital has learned.
The literary work, written by the psychologist and writer Javier Bardón, tells firsthand the life and judicial journey of Ana Garrido, the civil servant who denounced the irregularities that gave rise to the largest corruption case linked to the Popular Party. The project is in the negotiation and initial development phase.
Project in embryonic phase
Sources close to the project explain to Confidencial Digital that the adaptation “is currently being signed” and that, for the moment, it is planned “in principle in series form”, even if development is in its early stages.
The identity of the production company, writers, television channels or platforms involved has not been revealed.
Ana Garrido as narrative axis
The work is based on the story contained in the book “Ana contra Gürtel”, which reconstructs the events carried out by Ana Garrido, official of the Boadilla del Monte Town Hall. His internal complaint about irregular rewards uncovered a corruption network that operated across several public administrations and companies and which came to be known as the Gürtel conspiracy.
From town hall to exile
The story begins in Costa Rica, where Ana Garrido lived in exile after denouncing the events. She stayed there for almost two years until she received a call from Spain summoning her as a key witness in court.
From then on, the story is articulated through a major flashback which reconstructs his arrival at town hall, the context of the real estate boom and the detection of the first administrative irregularities.
The origin of the Gürtel affair
The book and its adaptation show how Garrido began documenting contracts, invoices and administrative decisions after refusing to participate in certain awards. These documents, collected systematically, eventually reached political and judicial authorities, which triggered police investigations, actions by the UDEF and proceedings before the National Court.
Workplace harassment and the legal process
After the affair surfaced, Ana Garrido returned to Spain to claim her job. The story reflects his times through isolation at work, lack of internal support and the media coverage of his story.
The story also incorporates the actions of journalists, opposition advisors and judicial authorities during the unfolding of the case.
