The Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) has launched an operation for the preventive arrest of a virtual predator who is being investigated for crimes of rape of a vulnerable person and sexual exploitation of children committed online. This action, carried out by the Women’s Assistance Section (SAM) of the 27th Police Station (Recanto das Emas), satisfied the preventive arrest warrant against Miguel Armando Bernardo Silva Filho.
The arrest represents the culmination of a comprehensive investigation initiated and completed by the SAM team itself. According to police, the operation was planned in recent weeks after significant progress was made in identifying the fake profiles used by the suspect. The arrest warrant was executed strategically, as the team surrounded the place where Miguel had been hiding since becoming a fugitive. The arrest was made without resistance on Monday (12/1).

According to the investigation, Miguel used platforms popular among children and teenagers such as Instagram, TikTok and some online games with chat rooms to get close to the victims. By presenting himself with false profiles and using manipulative rhetoric, he was able to establish a relationship of trust.
Intimate photos
After gaining the victims’ trust, the investigator began requesting personal information and intimate photos. With this material, according to police, he began a sextortion scheme, threatening to expose the children if they did not continue sending new content. This behavior constitutes crimes such as production of child pornography and rape of a vulnerable person, due to the age of the victims in question.
Prosecutors convicted Miguel in June 2025, resulting in the issuance of a preventive detention order. However, after learning of the investigation, he fled and remained in an unknown location for several months.
SAM’s team continued investigations and surveillance until the accused was located, who was finally arrested on Monday, ending the period during which he was on the run. The police station reported that cooperation between police sectors was crucial to the success of the operation.
New victims
In addition to the victim that led to the initial case, investigators have already confirmed the presence of at least two other teenagers, both 12 years old, living in the municipalities of Barra do Corda and Aquilandia, in Maranhão. The authorities confirm that the number may be higher, as analysis of the seized devices is still ongoing.
PCDF stressed that it continues to work to identify other potential victims and track all profiles used by the suspect on social media. Police advise parents and guardians to monitor children’s online activities and report any suspicious behavior.
Miguel Armando Bernardo Silva Filho remains at the disposal of the court and will be transferred to the prison unit after legal procedures.
