A drug used for weight loss and recommended to São Paulo players was distributed irregularly, outside the rules of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The weight loss pen, as it is called, was marketed by an individual, without legal authorization, to be sold in Brazil.
The drug, known as Mounjaro, was offered against direct payment and with the promise of immediate delivery, without a medical prescription. The amount charged was high and the supplier said the product came from abroad, a practice that makes it impossible to sell it regularly in the country.

According to information revealed by UOL, the supplier indicated that the drug was recommended to athletes in São Paulo and also supplied to people linked to the club’s board of directors. Informed that he was speaking to a journalist, he changed his tune and began to deny the sale, claiming that he had only brought a few units as a favor to acquaintances.
Despite this later version, the investigation was able to identify who received payments related to referrals made in the club environment. The manager used typical sales language, mentioned limited inventory, announced promotions, and shared materials with instructions for using the pens.
Anvisa said that any sale of medicines by individuals is considered irregular and that medicines can only be sold by licensed pharmacies or drugstores. São Paulo indicated that it did not know the origin of the product, opened an internal investigation and ended the partnership with the doctor involved.
