American Katrina went shopping at a thrift store, but left the store with much more money in her pocket than she had when she entered. In a video shared on TikTok, she said she found an amount of almost R$11,000 in a piggy bank that she had bought for around R$60.
“I found this at a thrift store. I paid $10.99 (around 59 reais). I bought it because it’s vintage and I was thinking of reselling it. I paid $10.99 and inside the pig I found all this money,” she said, who often shares videos of her thrift store purchases.
Katrina explained that the tickets were grouped into nine bundles of notes and the total amounted to US$2,028, or approximately R$10,989. “It’s $2,028. That’s a lot of money to find at a thrift store. I felt guilty about finding it. What if someone accidentally donated it?”
She explained that she did not purchase the piggy bank at a charity thrift store, but rather at Goodwill, a chain of stores that sells second-hand goods in the United States. So she called the establishment, but did not tell them about the money.
“I just asked them if anyone had called them to ask about a piggy bank, and they said no. So I’m going to keep the money. That’s your cue to go to a thrift store. You never know what you’re going to find,” Katrina concluded.
