
A woman died on Thursday after being stabbed by her partner in Inhoaíba, in the western zone of Rio. The victim was identified as Letícia de Sousa Braga. According to the State Secretariat of Military Police, agents from the 27th BPM (Santa Cruz) were called to respond to an incident of domestic violence against women in the area. Letícia was injured in the neck by her partner and taken to an emergency care unit (UPA), but she did not survive her injuries.
After the attack, the suspect was attacked by neighbors, according to the Prime Minister. During the confusion he also received stab wounds and had to be transported to the Rocha Faria Municipal Hospital, where he remains under observation and detention.
The Capital Homicide Station (DHC) is investigating the case. In a note, the specialist informed that agents were carrying out investigations to investigate the circumstances of Letícia’s death. The first recording of the incident was made at the 35th DP (Campo Grande).
The case is being treated as a femicide and police are seeking to clarify the dynamics of the crime, in addition to checking whether there was a history of domestic violence involving the couple.
