According to the Chronicle’s investigation, the woman was admitted to the base hospital the same night of the crime, with several injuries to her body and in danger of death. Despite the seriousness of her condition, she was reportedly released without a formal medical release document and without a medication prescription, even though she reported severe pain in the abdominal area.
Severe pain
Shortly after leaving the health office, the victim again felt severe pain and felt sick on public roads. Faced with the situation, the Samu was called and provided additional emergency care, taking her to another hospital unit, where she again received medical care.
The Chronicle contacted the Federal District Health Department to confirm the information and question the reasons for the patient’s release under such conditions, but until the closing of this edition there was no official response.
The attack took place against the stilt of a building located at 411 Norte, Brasilia, and lasted approximately 15 minutes. The Federal Court decided to keep in detention the suspect, Rafael Silva Lima, 19, homeless, accused of raping and violently beating the victim.
The case
Rafael was arrested hours after the rape during an invasion near the University of Brasilia (UnB) and initially taken to the 2nd Police Station, in Asa Norte. Also on Saturday night, he was sent to the Prisoner Control and Custody Division (DCCP).
On Sunday (12/21), the arrest in flagrante delicto was transformed into a preventive one by the courts. The suspect was transferred to the Papuda Prison Complex on Monday (22/12).
Residents of the building said they did not witness the attack and that no one called the police during the crime. The violence was only discovered hours later, around 5 a.m., when a cleaning worker discovered a pool of blood at the scene.
According to delegate Marco Farah, responsible for the case, Rafael showed bloodstains, abrasions and obvious signs of physical struggle at the time of his arrest. “During the personal search, the usual procedure before being sent to the cell, we found that he still had a condom on his genitals,” explained the delegate.
