On Wednesday, Argentina condemned Gallo’s detention before the Organization of American States (OAS): “A fact.” unfair and incompatible with the law international”.
The Chavista regime of Venezuela, which is at the top today Nicolas Maduro It can be said that there are several open battle fronts, but there is at least one of them where it is unrelenting: the arrest of Nahuel Gallo, the Argentine gendarme who, on December 8, 2024, tried to enter Venezuelan territory from the border with Colombia to visit relatives and was arrested by the Bolivarian authorities. Since then his whereabouts have been unknown.
This Thursday, a few days after the end of exactly that period, a year, the Minister of National Security, under whose jurisdiction the gendarmerie that makes up Gallo is located, received family members in her office, to whom she promised to redouble her efforts. “He was illegally detained in Venezuela by the Maduro regime. His detention is an unlawful act and a direct violation of his freedom. Today we welcome his family because in Argentina we do not abandon our family: we will not stop until Nahuel comes home,” the minister wrote on her official X account.
Monteoliva, who recently took over as secretary of the portfolio, was previously involved in the ministry’s efforts as secretary, the right-hand man and number two to Patricia Bullrich, whom she later succeeded. Both this ministry and others in the Argentine executive branch claim active accusations before various international organizations to obtain Gallo’s release, such as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR), the International Criminal Court or the United Nations Human Rights Council.
