José Luis Ábalos speaks – figuratively – from Soto del Real prison and once again issues veiled threats and little information. The former minister assures that “he will not be the only one who will be remembered” from the PSOE and that in the party “there was no … irregular financing” while he was secretary of the organization and that “he has no proof of criminal or illicit acts” against Pedro Sánchez.
The interview given to TVE’s ‘Mañaneros 360’ program provides little information beyond a few details about his life in prison (such as his reading list, published this Tuesday by ABC) or his relationship with Koldo (good).
Perhaps the most relevant is that Ábalos says that “he does not recognize himself” in the audios of the plot in which he appears and that the UCO used in the investigation, as he already said before the judge in June this year. This resembles the defense used by his predecessor at the organization’s secretariat, Santos Cerdán, who even went so far as to present an expert report to denounce that these had been manipulated and that, as revealed by ABC, had not been carried out by qualified computer scientists.
He also defends that “there was no irregular financing” within the PSOE, “at least” when he was secretary of the organization, and that “there is no proof of criminal acts and illicit activities” of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
Of course, when asked how he will be remembered, he assures that it will depend on how “his legal situation is resolved”, but that “he will not be the only one” from the party who will be remembered “.
