Coach Abel Braga was brought to Inter to try to save the team from relegation to Serie B. In his first press conference, the coach made a homophobic joke.

He revealed a conversation he had with Andre D’Alessandro, Inter’s manager, who was his player when he was an Inter player.

“He was an athlete for me and I admire him a lot,” said Abel Braga. “Dali looks like a little ant, he is everywhere on the pitch. I made a joke, he made fun of everyone. ‘I said I don’t want my team to train in pink shirts, it looks like a team of gays.’ He actually said: ‘I already said you have to take this shirt off’.”

The coach takes charge of Inter in the final two rounds of the Brazilian League. He has not worked with any team since 2023, when he left Vasco.
