
American actor, director and producer Rob Reiner, 78, was found dead this Sunday at his home in Brentwood (Los Angeles) in the company of his wife, Michele Singer, who had apparently been stabbed, Variety magazine reported.
Reiner has had a long career in film and television. Born in 1947, he directed such important films as “Count on Me,” “The Princess Bride” and “When Harry Met Sally.” Additionally, winner of Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy in 1974 and 1978. As an actor, he has appeared in recent years in films such as “The Wolf of Wall Street” or “New Girl”.
“We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time,” a family spokesperson said, confirming the couple’s deaths.
Alan Hamilton, deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, said at a news conference that an investigation was underway into the couple’s deaths, but nothing would be released about the victims until the coroner’s report. This spokesperson indicated that at this time no one has been identified as a suspect, pending a search of the home.
