
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned that the moment of “greatest adversity” of the rainstorm affecting the Valencian Community, in particular the province of Valencia, whose coast is in red alert, will apply this afternoon, the night and the next morning due to the development of storms on land.
In the first half of this Sunday, storms were recorded at sea off the coast of the province, with some impacts also occurring on land in the Camp de Morvedre area, near Quart de les Valls.
The Valencia Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium carried out two operations in Gandia this morning for a problem with a downpipe on a property and for the renovation of a facade.
For their part, the watercourses of rivers, ravines and reservoirs remain in a “normal” situation, although in part of the province of Valencia the red alert for rain is in effect and in much of the region the orange alert is in effect, as reported to Europa Press by the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ).
Storm Emilia left persistent rains last morning in the Safor region and in the northern end of the Marina Alta, while the intensity of the rain was heavy in the coastal mountainous areas and weak and discontinuous in other coastal areas of Valencia and Castellón.
In the province of Valencia, the most notable rainfall records in four hours were recorded in Font d’en Carròs (145 l/m2), Potries (89.4), Beniflà (82.0) and Rafelcofer (69.0), according to data from the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet).
The Generalitat Emergency Coordination Center (CCE) in L’Eliana (Valencia) will hold a new coordination meeting with the authorities involved in the emergency at 5:30 p.m. this Sunday. The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Emergencies and Interior, Juan Carlos Valderrama, to update the information on the rainy season.
