Flamengo director of football José Boto has entered the radar of European clubs after a high-impact year in charge of the region. The information was revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano in a publication this Sunday, a reference on the transfer market and in the coverage of the main teams on the continent. In his first season at Rubro-Negro, the Portuguese became one of the protagonists of the campaign that resulted in the Libertadores and Brasileirão titles.

Hired in early 2025, at the start of BAP’s tenure, Boto immediately presented a philosophy supported by performance analysis, detailed prospecting and hiring based on objective criteria.
This strategy resulted in the arrival of reinforcements who quickly took a central role in Filipe Luís’ team. These include Jorginho, Jorge Carrascal, Saúl and Samuel Lino, all starters from the title-winning season.
The journalist also highlighted the fact that the coach had accumulated four titles in just two weeks – Libertadores, Brasileirão, Derby das Américas and Challenger Cup – a feat which increased his international visibility.
Boto’s possible departure comes at a crucial time for Flamengo. Next Wednesday (17), the club will play the final of the Intercontinental Cup against French Paris Saint-Germain, a match that could crown the Portuguese’s first year with a historic trophy.
