Fridman Gustavo Amorim Brito, aged 22, died this Wednesday (10/122), after 29 days of hospitalization at the Juazeiro Regional Hospital, in Bahia. This is the second victim to die from methanol poisoning in Sertão de Pernambuco. The first was his girlfriend, the influencer Yasmin Ângela, who died on November 12 in Petrolina (PE).
Fridman had been admitted to Juazeiro Regional Hospital in Bahia since November. He received the antidote, but did not resist.

The consumption of the contaminated alcoholic beverage took place on the night of November 10, during Yasmin’s birthday celebrations in Petrolina. The digital influencer did not receive medical treatment.
Fridman and a friend were transported to University Hospital (HU), Petrolina. They were then transferred to the regional hospitals of Juazeiro and Ouricuri respectively.
Methanol poisoning
The death of Fridman Gustavo Amorim Brito will be considered a case of poisoning in Bahia, because the young man lived in the Bahian town of Juazeiro. His body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) in Juazeiro and awaits release. The family will always define the day and time of the wake and burial, which should take place in Juazeiro.
The Social Defense Secretariat (SDS) of Pernambuco confirmed, on November 18, the cause of four cases of poisoning that were under investigation in the municipality of Sertão. According to the report from the Toxicology Laboratory of the Scientific Police, the four cases were caused by methanol poisoning.
